Trade-offs and failure modes in governance

  • “Human review” becomes a formality: the workflow records that review happened, but not what changed as a result.

Implication: you need a controls-informed orchestration design that limits context to decision-relevant records, captures “approval deltas,” and supports targeted replays.

Translate governance readiness into one operating architecture

If you’re evaluating orchestrated agents for real operations in Canada, don’t start with models. Start with decision architecture: where approvals trigger, what evidence is required, and how outcomes are owned and reused.

A concrete architecture assessment should map:

  • Decision points: which steps require approval vs which steps may proceed under constraints.
  • Context interfaces: which records (primary sources, instructions, exceptions, and history) must be attached to each handoff.
  • Orchestration policy: which agent/tool/human reviewer is next, and what guard conditions apply.
  • Memory and traceability: what becomes organizational memory and how it is governed.
